Oh boy, can't wait for Half Life 2 Season 2 Episode 1, Season 2 Episode 2, Season 2 Part 2 Episode 1, and Season 2 Part 2 Episode 2.
There's no reason for them to develop new games. The cash flow from microtransactions and Steam as a platform is very lucrative and requires less resources to turn profit. Half-Life: Alyx is fantastic, but its main purpose is to sell the Valve Index.

Half life 3 was never made because the way Half Life 2 Episode 2 ending was deeply flawed. Eli's Death completely ruined the Half Life lore and this further compounded Half life 3 development, it got so bad that they retconned the Episode 2 ending in Half-Life Alyx.
