No one want to reveal they are Vietnamese in Thailand. Learn some Thai history about Vnamese minority you will understand. The link below not related.Just some incident.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/6_October_1976_massacre
The students, workers who died in this Incident are all Thais. but the police call them Yuan
meaning Vnamese so they can kill them with no mercy
There are a lot more back in the day, they fled the French to around north-eastern part of Thailand. They got sent back home after the French left, and a lot more follow after the unification of Vietnam. But trust me, almost everybody forgot their root when they live here for too long. Chinese, Malay, Laotian they became Thai-(their home) resident and forgot there language because they barely use them
You should make a viet kieu video in Laos. Maybe in Luang Prabang or vientiane
It's a disappointing for most of them don't want to speak vietnamese….but it's also understanding that that's their new home and have to adapt!
So sad
โอ๊ยยยย น่าสงสาร555+ I have been Vietnam and ate thai food but no thai people :l
Kyle is very good he is lucky get to go.to U/S, now he go back to his home lead to see what going on now he is good guy thank you for sharing your beautiful story very good thank you.
Thai people hate vietnamese they always make fun of our country I dont know why
Thanks for making this video! My father is Vietnamese from Thailand and I want to know more about these group of people.
I was born in Vietnam. I can understand. And I can speak enough to get by. People think my accent is a laugh riot.
It’s hard isn’t it? I wouldn’t give them shit for not speaking Vietnamese especially as a Viet Kieu. It happens to so many second generation people. Especially in countries where they are often forced to not speak the languages. Just speaking random Vietnamese to people is just not eighth, a Vietnamese people is still Vietnamese even if they don’t speak Vietnamese. Their situation is always different. I’ve had Chinese people speak to me in a Chinese dialect and it just annoys me that they assume. I wish you would at least ask if someone is Vietnamese instead of screaming the language. I love your channel but I’ve seen this to be a constant thing in your channel and it completely ignores the unfortunate issues in the countries you’ve gone to where speaking Vietnamese might be dangerous in places like Cambodia. When you come to a country as a foreigners, put away your western frame of mind please. You are doing so well but don’t mess it up because of these silly errors
Intereting looking vietnamese in thailand
mẹ kiếp, người việt mà không nói được tiếng việt!
I'm a pure viet descendant according to 23andme but everyone in my family speaks Thai/Lao. I guess they want to blend in the Asian country where as in America, they don't blend in at all.
You don’t have trouble finding Vietnamese in Thailand but still interesting to find them. I’ve stayed in motel own by Vietnamese in Thailand and they have a small dinning area that serve some what Vietnamese food.
Why we used a church we Vietnamese are Buddhist and we used to say temple also
There are Americans with German, Dutch, Japanese, Korean, Thai etc. ancestors who cannot speak their predecessors' languages, yet I've never seen any German, Dutch, Japanese, Korean, Thai etc. in their own countries would whine about that. It's their ways. Their right.
Consider my words or not is your business.
Vietnam in Thailand. I guess they live for a very long time since we call vietnam people 'yuan'. Just like Chinese people in Thailand they live untill they forgot thier langauge. it was a very long time. Those Thai-vietnamese are maybe second or third generetion
I myself is half Vietnamese and half Filipino but unfortunately I wasn't able to learn the language, but I know some other half Vietnamese here in the Philippines who speak fluently because their parents are strict and wanted to speak only Vietnamese at home.
She's a liar that she doesn't know how to speak Vietnamese. Unless she was born there and never interact with other Viets, and how can you not know how to speak but you can cook Vietnamese food? Lmao nothing make sense to me. Even my sister were born in Canada and she speaks Viet , or myself I left Vietnam when I was very young and still speak Vietnamese fluently. Jesus
There are many Vietnamese in Laos. Mostly in southern provinces. There are many that came to Laos since French colonial time. The French brought them to do administrative work. They still speak Vietnamese.
cafe g7 kia troi oiiii
Why they can't speak Vietnamese. They should keep teaching Vietnamese for their next generation, it would make them strong.
Haha. This doesn't happen only to Vietnamese in Thailand. Thailand is a very accepting society. Second generation immigrants may be bilingual. Third generation onward will mostly be able to speak only Thai.
Nothing to do on Sunday night so see some of the old video. Still very interesting. Speak Vietnamese with random ppl, that's funny man
if u looking for vietnamese people, come to Phnom Penh, they are everywhere lolxxxx
'rejected' 😀
"I heard that guy say du ma" Hahaha that's the first word my viet friends taught me in high school. xD
interesting.. most Vietnamese people who live in other Asian countries don't speak Viet anymore.. but most of the Vietnamese in America even when they're born here, speak the language. I make my son speak Viet because I want him to able to speak two language instead of one especially it is our own language . as for me.. I'm working on teaching myself to speak more languages.
I will visit this area next time I will be in Bangkok . I visit Bangkok Almost every year
Thank you for sharing this video . I miss Vietnamese food when I visit Bangkok
Buồn quá. Viet in Thailand forgot Vietnamese. Most of Viet in American can speak Vietnamese.
Thanks a lot Kyle. I am really appreciate your works. 🙂

hello kyle, thx for another great video. I am an overseas Vietnamese too, from canada but now residing and working in Singapore. it is great to c our brothers and sisters are doing well in other parts of the world. one question kyle, have u ever thought about doing informative videos on retiring in Vietnam – covering a wide range of topics such as accommodation, food, culture, medical, cost of living, banking, employment, etc etc.
