I have been subscribed since your first video. I have enjoyed all of the videos because they are so informative. The old photos and films that you use must take a lot of time and effort to find, but I do appreciate the work you put into these videos. Tokyo Tower will always be iconic for Tokyo, more so that Skytree.
My grandparents' house was at the sight of where Tokyo Tower stands today. The broadcasting company that built it payed them to move, and they moved just down the street. I can just barely remember looking up at the tower from their front door in the late 60's. We returned from the US for several months in the early 70's. In those days, there were practically no other tall buildings in Tokyo so Tokyo Tower just seemed to loom over the entire city. I need to point out one error–the sodium vapor lighting scheme that lights up the tower from the inside out was not adopted until the 80's or 90's, after the Eiffel Tower created a similar scheme. Prior to that the four corner edges were lined with light bulbs that lit up the outline of the tower. It was quite beautiful at night. Too bad you didn't include a clip of Mothra spinning her cocoon at the base of the tower LOL! That "tree" thingy they built may be a lot taller, but Tokyo Tower will always be the symbol of modern Tokyo as far as I'm concerned!

Tokyo Tower is visible from all around Tokyo―I could even see it from my former elementary school. It is indeed fascinating to learn about my own city's tower through a language other than Japanese lol
I've only been up the tower once, when I was a volunteer for the annual Suicide Prevention Stair Climb, so that means I've never been up the tower as a paying customer 😛
Even with all the tall new buildings surrounding it, it truly is a Japanese icon; it catches my eyes wherever I am in Tokyo.
(P.S. the video at the end was sorta ominous haha)
