i hope the video u make for the bare minimum gets linked from this video eventually
really looking forward to that
Awsome channel! Why don't you make a test of Gaggia Viva / Saeco Poemia. Its cheap but it is widely considered to make a pretty good expresso 😉
I'll stick with my stove top Moka pot
Hi! Thanks for your sharing your research with all of us. I am writing from the States, so I don’t know if this will be relevant. In case this is of any use: I am not nearly as technically knowledgeable as you about anything coffee, especially espresso machines. But I’ve had quite a good run with very inexpensive Capresso espresso machines (made by Jura, inc.). I paid about $60-65 USD for each, and had two of them for around a decade each. I’m sure the coffee quality isn’t the very best, and probably would disappoint you, but it’s been fine for me. Cheers!
I use to have an "espresso machine" very similar to these. It was a mr coffee machine, it had a standard unpressurized portafilter. This was when I first started getting into coffee. I thought it was okay back then, but I also had no clue what I was talking about, or what coffee should taste like. I've now been a barista for a number of years and have a pretty decent set up at home. Part of me wishes I could go back and see if with my knowledge I could actually make a decent shot of espresso on that machine.
Love the content, it's very helpful for people looking to "break into" the world of coffee. Also I love the "Loop Daddy" shirt!
HOW HAS NO ONE COMMENTED ON YOUR AMAZING SHIRT!? Loop Daddy represent!
Thank you for your professional opinion. You were the one who taught me the right way to use a French Press, which I love. But am interested, possibly, in an Espresso machine that doesn’t bankrupt me. Like you, I’d rather put off buying till I could get a decently working machine with a great coffee experience, don’t need the Cadillac edition, but would if I had the $$$$, LOL! Blessings to you sir!
Smug little snob,aren’t you.
My wife bought me the krupps one. It isn't terrible, but it doesn't have a rich flavour for sure. I use mine for lattes though (boo hiss from the purists). I am annoyed the frother won't really allow me to make nice creamy milk patterns in my cup though
Thanks! I've been researching around, and every other review seems to be biased or straight out bought, and I almost got a machine but decided to research further. Your video is by far the most educational of them all. I'm gonna save my money and got a decent machine down the line. I'm stuck on a dripping machine until then.
There are some really interesting options on the Under £200 range espresso machines, with many options of makes like Gaccia and DeLonghi .
That would be a great entry level option for a budget . And would make for a great video
The missus got one that's basically identical to the Swan, it's not great but it makes coffee that's not instant and only cost her £5 due to a coupon. But we'll upgrade shortly as we are both graduated now.
oh and the steamer stopped working after a month.
My brother once bought one of those DeLonghi machines, but we didn't have a grinder at that point. What it produced with store bought espresso was vile.
It fell into disuse, but some water remained in the container. When i eventually bought a grinder and wanted to try again, the water that came out was rusty. Couldn't get it clean even after a dozen or so rinses. Bit sad, but we got rid of it. I'd be up to try and get the most okay espresso possible out of it if we still had it.
OK, I'll move on to the $500 espresso machine video.
Is Ebay an ok place to find a used good machine? I can't afford a new 500 dollar machine…
buy a second hand Jura
Is no one going to call out that James is wearing an awesome Marc Rebillet shirt???
I am using a machine similar to the Swan machine since 2020. After a long process of trial and error I am really confident with this one. I bought it for 69 Euros.
I haven't watched the video yet, but I'm surprised people say the grinder is more important than the espresso machine. I'd assume it was definitely the espresso machine that was more important. I feel like you can get a (relatively) cheap grinder and make some great coffee if you know what you're doing with a decent, controllable, informative machine. Like, one key issue with cheaper espresso machines is that they don't actually pressurize the water, they just let the filter and the grounds do it, and that just makes extremely unpleasant coffee in my experience. (Has also caused me to break a machine while trying to get it to actually work at the right pressure.)
You should test those pressurised one's with a non pressurised filter
Amazon Basics 3.8/5 stars. People sure love their cheap stuff.
The USCPD chief was in my mother's church group. Regularly had underlings fetch him " lattes" .
He thought the drink from my one dollar Mr. Coffee rummage sale machine was out of this world.
Dark roast second wave beans, krups grinder. I was a second wave barista at the time.
It weren't the coffee we get from a Flair.
If one is accustomed to a daily kicking, a slap or three is a holiday.
They Amazon is exactly the same to the mashine sold in Chile under the Oster brand. And I can relate, it does exactly what you explain in the video.
come here looking for reviews on the lafeeca one, now i dont kwon what to buy under the budget, i may surely expend over 250 usd, but havent find any good.
Turning a drug into a hobby yeah sounds fun
if i continue to watch your reviews i won't buy anything…
If I unfortunately already own a $100 machine like these with a pressurized portafilter (which I hate), can’t I switch out the porta filter to make it better?
I think if you have Kick and don‘t buy a new one you could have a good one for the begin. But you Must change the filter and so on. Than you got a good Espresso
