I’m reviewing the recent Sims 4 update that promised trait improvements and bunk beds. We got the beds, but what are the trait improvements?

Your guess is as good as mine. We have very little information on the so-called improvements via patch notes or in the official livestream. I guess you’ll just have to play the game endlessly to see if you can figure it out. Have fun!

I'm in my late 20s. I played Sims 1, then played the hell out of Sims 2 and 3, up through the release of 4. I figured part of my rejection of 4 was simply the fact I "grew up" (got employed, married, had kids, etc… basically started doing what I always simulated).
Then last week I downloaded the Sims 2 Super Collection for my Mac and OH HOW WRONG I WAS. I feel 16 again… hours and hours spent appreciating a game FROM 2004, losing myself in the heart and soul of an actual, genuinely good game.
I didn't grow up; Sims 4 is just BAD.
It feels like EA betrayed their historical fan base in favor of a younger generation that they can screw over (who ironically, don't have the same disposable income to spend on the countless expansion packs they keep pushing).
I'll be watching the Paralives development and crossing my fingers that all the sad ex-simmers one day get an amazing, modernized simulation game worth our time and money.
EA is lazy as hell, I play one of their sport games Fifa, and in that series too they make big changes at least every 2 years

Back when the sims and sims 2 were being developed there wasn't social media and all kinds of outside input, the result was 2 great games that broke not only the molds but the records as well. The sims 3 and now 4 have external input galore and see how well that's working. Companies need to go back to their roots and start producing games without nit wit input and go back to making great games, even WoW was destroyed by player input and they ended up losing so much income as a result. Community input is a real 1 way ticket to destruction over just putting the game out as you envision it and letting the players decide who will play and who won't. If you only try to cater to a select few you will alienate a larger base, some like Cars in the game most could care less as an example (Cars would be cool I think).
I started an unmodded game yesterday. My goofball sim lived next to Johnny Zest, also a goofball. Johnny pranked my sim's toilet whenever he came to visit. Quite annoying after the fourth time, but even more annoying was that my sim also pranked her own toilet, when autonomy was on. So I am guessing that one of the trait "improvements" for goofballs is constantly pranking toilets without rhyme or reason… great.
Carl Sim went over what changed in the traits
they REALLY need to have sims react to what is said and done around them. Children should be shocked or traumatized when walking in at the wrong time…. or abusive parents or neighbors. How about a neighborhood bully that actually bullys!!!!

I can see how it can be frustrating if you don't understand that the woman in the livestream is doing marketing. She is using NLP speech patterns to sell to the idiots who would buy this stuff. the whole of sims 4 is just a big experiment to see how much the can sell air for
why dont they just add a colour wheel for things like hair or things you can change colour an stuff

I'm still not even done exploring The Sims 3, I still haven't gone through all the careers, haven't gotten all expansion packs (not that I'm planning to get Sweet Treats, but all the rest, yes) so I'm cool waiting until The Sims 5. Not a problem here. Damn, I love being behind the times! xD

I think you're being a bit overly negative. Carl's Sim Guides messed around with gameplay and found out what they did to traits and it seems a bit better. Idk why they didn't advertise it better, but yeah.
I think carl's sim guide about the trait improvements as well cause I wasn't paying attention to the improvements lol

I just want my sims to acknowledge their extended family, or family that lives outside of the current lot. that’s literally it. I just want my kids to stop having stranger danger when grandpa comes to visit. I want to send my college age sim to his parents for the day without getting kicked out for cooking. I hate this shit lol

EA: Well, yes, but actually no-
I did not see the livestream, but happened to make a new bookworm gal as soon as the game was updated. There sure are a lot of great female clothing in this game! But I did not see any changes in her behavior. She has a bookshelf in her living room, of course, but still seems to prefer her smartphone.
