I just bought and aeropress and got this version as it was just slightly more expensive but I like how it all fits into that ugly "cup".
at 03:10 you show the different plungers, mentioning the 'blanked hole'. This is most likely because during the injection moulding of that part, the injection point is in the middle of the part. Notice also that the holes are now in a circular pattern around that injection point. I'm sure with this design the injection moulding cycles are much shorter, and also there will be less defects.
Everyone who either spent their fair share travelling or working in housekeeping certainly understands the benefit of bringing their own cup.
A bigger version definitely would have made more sense
If I was going backpacking I think I would really like that. I have always struggled to make decent coffee while out in the woods. I have a french press attachment for my Jetboil, but it's pretty useless, the grounds all leak around the sides. This is smaller than the original, plus it comes with a cup, so I can leave my squishy silicone cup at home. Cleanup would be easier than getting grounds out of my pot.
You get genuine coffee cups at hotels? I've never seen anything other than disposable paper cups
the point of the cup is keeping everything together and water tight. So you roll out of bed in Hotel Hell, at 0400 hrs, brew one – or more likely two cups: throw everything in your bag; collect your bill from the floor where they jammed it under at 0200 hrs; and then off to your next port of call/sales stop/meetings etc.. Thus when you open your carryon, five hours later, your next white shirt is completely without a drip mark.
The notion of travelling with what? A ziploc bag complete with grinder and beans and accoutrements and keeping your clothes clean is a triumph of optimism over experience.
what is the heating scale there can u tell what is that and where to get it is it wireless??

I think i will go for this one for campervan and hotel use. The main advantage I see is that you can quickly use it then clean it (or not) and just put it in it's container without getting a damp bag or filter papers. Besides, for an espresso shot you would not need it any bigger unless you were doing a filter type brew without milk.
Got mine at REI (10% dividend) and it is for hiking. I never could fit a grinder into my mug/filter setup and I never had an original Aeropress so this is actually a step up for me. It is a smidge heavier but it is also better coffee. Perfectly happy with it. Fwiw the cup that came with mine is smooth, no burs. I might not carry the cup though. It fits in my old mug.

If you did a lot of walking and backpacking James, I think you'd get it, it's brilliant for those who value space and weight whilst out walking, but still want a good coffee. The space in the plunger is great for ground coffee, no way I'm putting a grinder in there and lugging it 1000m up a hill. I've 2 regular aeropresses, but this is the most useful for the type of outdoors use I want from it, but you're right about how you've described hotel or suitcase travel, for that I take regular one 🙂

My wish list is not for a smaller version like this. What I want is a real carry case for the one I have, that fits all the parts compactly. The zippered bag is a fail IMHO. I want a bigger filter case that is not such a fumble. That's it. Otherwise for me, the original is the perfect travel device already.
why was james so confused. its called go its for people who move around a lot. not a big aeropress fan but id i was id have one already, as it is i carry a v60 and grinder
I have the original. This is appealing for travel. You can rinse it and put it away in your bag without fully drying it, if you have to, as it is self contained. storing it with its own cup also saves space. if you want some more coffee, you can brew it stronger, longer, with more coffee, and add more hot water after, like an Americano.
I picked this up today at a small brewer company along with some of thier blend.
Tbh I didn't know it was a go. I did a brew and liked it. My plan is to use it at a new job and I kind of like how compact it is. The cup is the only thing I don't see myself using but otherwise I thought it was a decent buy.

When doing longer distance by bike or similar i don't want to bother taking a grinder with me. Preground coffee in an appropriate amount for the length of time it is – for such use cases the cup is actually more useful to me than the ability to stuff a grinder in there
