they all are the same thing. just waste of money. i am pretty conetent with my nutella jar while doing the same the job.
I use a pound of grinds with a half gallon of water, and refrigerate for three or four days, stirring several times a day. Then filter in the fridge with a cone filter. Freeze the concentrate in ice cube trays and store in ziplock bags. I put a cube in a cup and fill with hot water for great tasting coffee.
How about using a magnetic stirrer.
What happens if you let it brew longer? Is the longer the better?
24 hours?
48 hours?
72 hours?
More?
Does it get better or worse?
How about a simpler straightforward approach/recipe? That is, brew your favorite coffee the method you prefer, and then just let it cool in the fridge for 12 – 16 – 24 hours, and then enjoy it!
Now there might be one little thing, is that hot water (normal coffee making method)extraction, might still seep some of that acidity, or am I missing something substantial here with cold brew?
Is there one way that works better then the others? Or are they all options and really depends on the recipe
Sorry for typo of Mr. Batta's name.
P. S: Previous commenter Showing Batta's comment is valid: For purposes of a fair comparison the beans used in the experiment described in the video should have been the same…after all, how else could it be determined if the METHODS used could produce a variety of flavors from one BEAN!!??
I appreciate being educated about one aspect of the "cold-brew issue" by both the video presenters and the commenters: I didn't know that the cold-brew method is a way to rescue aging ground or whole-bean coffee for consumption…I usually use such a product for making coffee for coffee enemas!

twentieth century).
Can I Just make a giant batch in a couple Pickle jars (big ones), keep it in the fridge and ladle it out. oooh I could get fancy with one of those jugs for cool-aid that has a spout!!
i just make it in a water bottle and then filter it out into another water bottle
It's heavy to move around the kitchen counter, but that is not a real issue MyBest.Kitchen Unit can remain on all day creating an "instant coffee" situation. Go for it!
Hello European Coffee Trip,
The only difference between Cold Brew & Iced is the way you make it the 1ST one you brew it hot it get’s poured over the other one is brewed with out device’s it use’s cold water not hot water let it chill 12-24 hour’s I know my expert!!!
I'd love to cold brew, but then heat it. Honestly I brew coffee in the Moka pot, but then I just let it sit there overnight. So when I need coffee, I pour a mug, swing the mug in the micro, one minute and 40 seconds later, I've got a hot mug of coffee. I'm a Coca-Cola connoisseur so I know the difference between a plastic bottle and a can (can all the way, I never buy plastic, tho I can't drink canned beer, has to be a glass bottle), but I can't really differentiate the fresh hot coffee from the micro one, or if there are differences, I don't care.
A 16 minute video that tell us absolutely nothing.
Asobu is garbage. It leaks immediately. Useless.
I only make it the summer, and I put it out in the sun for 3-4 hours. Then move it to the fridge, so it doesn't skunk or create bacteria. Today it was near 95 out, probably a 130 degrees on my concrete porch. I think it makes it a little stronger than the demonstration brews here.
Thanks for your video! It really help me to find a way to make my own cold brew coffee!
I don't think there would be much difference since the grinds, contact time, and the method is the same.
Anyone know how much grounds the Mizudashi takes? All I can find is Hario's recipe not sure if that's the max..
Another DIY is if you have a french press you can use it to make some cold brew as well
2 tea bags of ground coffee + mason jar -> fridge overnight
You are a superstar..thanks
For DIY, couldn’t you just use an old French press at the end instead of sieves and filters?
How many hours to steep in fridge?
For DIY, you don't need the paper filter. After sieving for the first time, let the cold brew solution stay still for 1 – 2 hours (don't stir), and then slowly pour to another container. You will have the fine coffee particles sunk at the bottom and just discard it.
My grandparents had what was probably a Toddy Brewer in the 60's. They would mix an ounce or so of the concentrate with their cup of hot water. Seems like they just used a tin of MJB. The commercial Cold Brew, I like the best so far is Grady's. A blend of coffee, chicory, and spices. Very nice with ice and half and half.
I just use a CoffeeSock and a Nalgene bottle. It works wonders to make some great cold brew on the cheap.
a cafeterre can be used for cold brew with its built in filter plunger
I used a dark roast, freshly ground. It came out a bit strong for me (24 hours).
I think this would have been more effective if all the coffees used were the same. We're not getting a sense of how each brewer affects the outcome, because the different beans are going to have a huge impact.
Thinking About using a milk jug to make a half gallon at a time, any reasons why I shouldn’t do this?
idk why i think it like this and why i'm writing it on comments of this video but i think of cold brew like vodka and normal other coffees like wine!? what do you think?
actually i've never tried any of those 😀
Love your videos- clear, concise and very pleasant to watch. Have you tried using a french press?
nice video…but unless you use the SAME COFFEE in each brewer, the results are meaningless. Bottom line, you're only looking for your commission on brewer sales.
Not sure what this video is trying to achieve. Different coffees, different ratios. Apples to oranges?
Excellent video! Thank you for posting. I've been cold-brewing for about ten years, using the Toddy system. The thing I love about brewing coffee this way (cold brewing using any device) is that it makes even the cheapest coffee grounds fairly drinkable. Anyway, I'd like to get other's opinions on something: It appears to me that we have some confusion about the name "cold brew". I've always stated that "cold brew" refers to the METHOD, as in "brewing coffee without having to use heat". I know that's true. But it appears that many people think I'm talking about drinking cold coffee, or iced coffee. That is NOT true. I then have to say something about cold brew doesn't mean cold coffee. I can drink it hot or cold, and usually, for me, it's hot. "Cold brew" is referring to the way I've brewed the coffee. Even media, coffee companies, and grocery stores seem to think that drinking "cold brew" means drinking cold coffee. Are they really interchangable and I'm just being picky? What's your opinion…anyone?
Potentially one stupid question – would the cold brew concentrate be similar to espresso? In terms of strength and flavor? I don't like to water it down too much and I would use the concentrate to make "cold espresso drinks" – such as ice lattes…
