BUY & BUY I love this game and the art of Joe Mad! I bought the game twice; once for the Switch and for the PS4. I’d buy any and all upcoming Battle Chaser games for all my systems. Many may not appreciate the type of game and I guess it’s not for everyone but not everyone knows a really good game. This game is not shallow, it’s deep. Plenty of monsters, great story, excellent crafting (not some games I’m not going to mention), ultimate weapons, perks, a battle arena (FF VII?), Hunts, random dungeons (Dark Cloud), clever use of over charge in battles, clever use of buffs and debuffs, fun boss battles, and FISHING! (Thanks again Dark Cloud). For me a very satisfying game.

The thing I didn't liked was the repetitive battle grind, but mostly the strange level gap. For example you are at level 9 – great – you get excited about equipping lvl 10 weapons. Guess what – next level you get to change equipment is lvl 17! You start to feel that when you reach lvl 15 and still carry lvl 10 equipment and hordes are hard on you.
But the game was very good and you can't leave the controller down.

I didn't like this game. It was the most linear bare bones RPG I've ever played. Just one town, with no interaction or exploration available. Only a few pathways you can use on the world map. Every zone has a single dungeon to clear. There's just no sense of immersion. The whole world feels like it was just designed specifically for your characters to use and is just sitting around waiting for you to do things. I've played 8-bit NES games with more freedom and better RPG aspects.

Also the game suffers severely from main character overload. You have six party members, but you only need to use three. You can use all of them, but there is no need to do so, and doing this requires many hours of extra grinding to keep them all up to parity. You can only swap them out in town, not in the open world or dungeons. That makes no sense, because the game makes it clear that when you are traveling in dungeons or the open world, you have all six people with you. So why can't I swap them out if they are all there?

I was hoping this game would restore my love of traditional JRPGs, but it just didn't measure up to the classics I grew up with.
