Why am I such an effing looser ?
Ps the hand is cool
Wonderful stories thank you for sharing
I've concluded the top of Adams head comes off in every video. LOL Thanks for sharing, it's always intense!
This was so wholesome!
Tally hall – Ruler of everything
First thing to come to mind
Lovely. Thanks for this.
My first sculpture was when I was maybe 10, I had this old cd slot thing, I took two bottle hooks (used for gerbil cages) used foiled to make lips, and a few other things and managed to make this robotic face.
Love, Thanks and Good luck =^ㅗ^=
I get asked, "When did you know you were an artist." To which I will reply, "When I discovered that brown Crayolas do not taste like chocolate."
I like these deep dive videos you do mostly because there's a humble sincerity in them but also because they remind me of my own early encounters and efforts into crafting, making and art.
Picked out the Art in your work at first glance. Glad the RA pointed that out for you!
Great story Adam! I've always wanted to be an inventor/scientist, but don't have the means or way. Loved seeing your nature as a builder and creator from where you got your inspiration. Seeing your designs and mechanical hand is so fascinating! Thanks Adam for your great content and keep it up! Stay safe!
From Tarrytown with love, Adam!
Stay awesome!
I just want to say thank you. I watch your stuff religiously, and have gotten so much inspiration. Working on my first U.S.S Enterprise refit model just because I saw the look of accomplishment in your eyes when you completed a model build. I've learned a lot just from these Tested videos on how to be a maker, and honestly it is something that I'll be into the rest of my life. I wish I had gotten the courage at C2E2 this year to have said this in person, but thanks man. Oh, and I picked up a 3 pack of the Pica pens. I am a historian by trade, so wrote a lot, and as result very particular on writing devices etc. What an absolute game changer… I ended up mailing one to my little sister and best friend since birth. Again, so many thanks for what you are doing. It is the highlight of my day seeing you posted something. All the best to you and yours. Thank you.
It reminds me of something from Tetsuo the Iron Man.
Warning *Medieval allegory* Warning *Medieval allegory* 😉
6:36 Adam – where the fuck am I going with this again?
That all he needs is the hand
Great story Adam. I too know what it's like to unexpectedly be called an "artist". When it happens the first time you kind of shrug it off but remember it. When it starts happening more often you take a closer look at yourself and see if you can see what other do. You then start looking at things differently. Some say you have to be born with artistry and creativity, it can be argued both ways. For some it's always been there and you just need to "feed the muse" and dig it out. Others have to really work at it while still others really don't have it. I'm sure theses have been written about this but I'm too busy making cool stuff. That said, I need to go get some bearings for a wind sculpture I'm working on…
And there still looking for RICKS body.
Well that just made me cry. No, seriously, I got choked up. THANKS FOR NOTHING! 😛
Hey Mr. Savage, My daughter asked a question and it got me thinking. She asked "How long do you have to keep the stove on to blow the house up like they do in movies?"…scary right? So anyway, was there a mythbusters on that, would the house blow up or would the gas dissipate to quickly for it to work?
I came for engineering, but I think I'm staying for the philosophy
I never thought of myself as an Artist (with a capital) until a Professional in one of my field of interests laid down this dichotomy. He asked why a person makes. If it's to sell, then they are a Professional. He strongly identified that way because his process involves the question "What do other people want in this thing I'm making?" If it is to satisfy a personal desire, then they are an artist.
This isn't THE definition of art but it struck a chord with me so I went with it. I don't know if that makes me an Artist but I'm pretty sure I'm an artist.
reminds me of the hand from "Elephant's Dream"
I recently started therapy again with a new therapist. In the process of getting to know each other I shared a few of my most vulnerable poems that I wrote after an attempt of taking my own life. I'd shared them with a couple friends and they told me they were good and stuff but I always feel like friends are required to tell you your art is good even if it's not. Anyways, she took a few minutes and wrote back to me saying she was extremely moved by how I captured the delicacy of the dance between life and death and asked if she could share one with a couple friends to which I agreed. And the next day she said one of them said they thought it was pulitzer worthy and the other sat stunned in silence by it. And that's the story of how I started compiling my poems and prose to hopefully be published someday. Writing has always just been for me to throw all my brain overflow somewhere so it stops taking up so much space in my head, but seeing the reaction other people had to it, seeing people who related to it and were moved by it was the first time I felt maybe it could be more than just my way of expressing myself. Maybe it could affect people the way poetry has touched and moved and nourished my soul.
one of my fav formats for his videos.
I double dog dare you to make your own puzzle box! Great Videos btw!
Capital A
.
Can think of a few other body parts most of us would be ecstatic to have lifelike sculptures of.
thank you for the story adam, for all your stories. greetings, adam
hahaha, can't believe Adam was in NYC in the 80s
This was such a beautiful video. Thank you Adam.
Terrible roommate you say, great source of beer stories, i say.
Disappointed the hand isn’t articulated.
But the nightmare story was well worth it.
Thanks for sharing your story's , Adam. Also very Cool hand Sculpture !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'd love to go rummaging through some NYC trash right now! I grew up in Jersey and we had junk day once a year in our town and it was the best day of the year! To go out and bring home all kinds of cool stuff was such a treat!
why dont u do more builds like on myth busters like how many lick does it take to get to the center of a tootsie pop. u have the tools. or just smaller myths or projects like that building toy cars and showing off your toys is cool but that would give u tons of views and a lot more fun. I think u have so much more skill and not really using all your potential js lol.
This was honestly really moving and inspiring to me. To learn that people will sometimes see more worth in your work than you do, or that our dreams and our future are constantly changing things that we can always see glimpses of but one day we’ll realize them. As a young artist going through a huge transition and growing phase of my artistic career, this helps me have a little more faith in myself. Honestly, thank you Adam, this really helped me today.
An artist and so much more
Good drugs back then is what i got out of this story and your refusing to admit such use…lol
