An interesting 6/4 piece was written by Sheryl Crow – Strong Enough. This one really feels like a 4/4+2/4 because of the chord changes on the 5 beat. interesting piece
When a song has thy propelling noticiable change of 4/4 to 2/4 Is how I decide if its 6/4
no mention of americ anfootball, i guess that was never meant
So Did We by ISIS, incredible song whether you hear 3/4 or 6/4 🙂
I think Soul of Cinder from Dark Souls 3 is also in 6/4
I can't wait to see what you do with 9/8 and 9/4!
Hey…Here is a song I am currently working up….https://youtu.be/En00OFoV1OM
I think the song "Piledriver Waltz" by Alex Turner is the best example for the difference between 3/4 and 6/4-
The verses are undeniably in 6/4, and for the chorus he makes a very noticable switch to 3/4. Even though they are similar time signatures they play very different roles in the song
So 6/4 is simple? And 12/8 is now a compound? So they are just like 3/4 and 6/8?
Rabbit in Your Headlights is a delightful specimen. Most of the song is in 9/8 but the it builds to a crescendo, and breaks into a strong quarter-note-feeling 6.
Them bones
"Tempo" by Boogarins
I just using this video to find new music I don’t know anything about music theory
I haven't played Most Wanted (2012) for over 6 years so hearing Galvanize slapped me with the most nostalgia Ive ever felt in my 16 years of being alive
I jammed out a riff that happened to be in 6/4 and have next to no theory knowledge, so this is actually really helpful for acclimatizing myself to the time signature
weird virgin pick over here, but Ekko's theme from League of Legends is a time signature nightmare, going between 11/4, 6/4 & 3/4.
the actual time signatures aren't particularly weird, it's just how everything is accented that makes it super interesting to me.
Hey, been a fan for while, and I was just scouring your videos for any TOOL references. They may not be your cup of tea – I don't know, but their song Rosetta Stoned, from 10,000 Days, has a lot to it that, I think, you would unpack. Just a song analysis suggestion! Thanks for the content
Isn’t “Demon Seed” by NIN in 6/4? I don’t know, I felt like mentioning that track
You missed the swan
I'm surprised he used a 21st century Australian garage rock song that alternates between 4/4 and 6/4 and it wasn't The Drones's iconic Shark Fin Blues.
Alice In Chains “Rain When I Die” (the track after Dam That River) also uses 6/4 verses, with a 4/4 chorus. Generally is divided into 4+2 per measure.
He talks about music the way literature professors explain the complexity of old books.
Clearly a 3/4
Should look at the last 3 minutes of ritual by Yes. Perfect 6/4
Le cygne
Camille Saint Saens
What about “Sergio mendes – fool on the hill”?
Snarky Puppy's 'Binky' features a middle section in 6/4.
Definitely deserving of at least 100 listens.
Schism isn’t 6/4. It’s alternating between 5,6,7/8
Love your channel and long time subscriber, but I have to disagree with Schism. The verse is alternating 5/8 and 7/8 (could also be thought of as 12/8) and then it changes to something else for the chorus and changes multiple times throughout the song. It's not a good example of 6/4, in my opinion.
To me, Electric Feel is in 3/4, because where the accents fall in the bass riff feels more like 3/4.
I am late to the party on this video, but the main song that really drove home 6/4 time for me as a youth was “You” by Candlebox. The 6/4 rhythm with heavy accent (snare) on the “four” still sticks with me as one of my favorite “grooves” in rock music.
The Nocturne in B flat minor by Chopin… Wonderfull
Nothing else matters?
The beginning of disposable heroes by metallica is in 6/4 I believe!
