The warmer location must be Svartalfheim, the dwarf realm that is weirdly named 'land of the dark elves' (see the Mimir tale about that). Asgard wouldn't look like that, I'm sure, and we've seen all the other realms. [Edit: Oh, you're right, I forgot Vanaheim! Doh!]
Looks like Atreus will be determined to once again ignore Kratos's wisdom and experience, and instead rush into seeking war. Sigh. Poor Kratos.
Freya looked super badass, but I hope she ends by forgiving Kratos and realising he was acting for the best in what he did. I don't like the idea of Kratos having to kill her. 🙁
And I don't think Kratos will die… that panel in Jotunheim showed him maybe dying in Atreus's lap, but Atreus was singing or speaking some kind of magic over him, which I hope means he will resurrect or heal him when the time comes.
If this is the start of Ragnarok, then it's 3 years after the events of God of War 2018. Fimbulwinter lasts for 3 years, as they said.

what is so great about the god of war norse games? seriously.
forgive me for pissing on the buzz but i feel this might add nothing to the 2018 game. i was disappointed with god of war 4 because of the slow and clunky combat, the long, drawnout, 'moving the goal post' storytelling, the camera angle, the monotonous enemies like the trolls…it just didnt look right for a hack and slasher. the only good thing i enjoyed from the first game were the valkaryes – i felt that was god of war standard. the 2018 game felt quiet and slow compared to the greek trilogy which i found to be much, much better. the combat in the older games flowed faster, better, and was more exciting. you could even do aerial attacks in the old games. in these ones, kratos doesnt even jump for fuck sake, eliminating a good chunk of moves he can do. also, wheres the magic attacks? why is the camera angle so restrictive? in the old games you could see better enemies around you – here its just front.
god of war? more like dad of bore. this isnt the last of us. its supposed to be a hack and slasher. devil may cry 5 did the job right – god of war is hack and slash gone wrong.
watching this trailer – gameplay wise, it looks practically identical. so its basically more of the same. i see the same weapons and setup. the only intriguing thing is that the son has gotten a little older. where the story goes, i guess it'll bridge to perhaps another GOW game after this one we are waiting for where the son fights kratos to conclude the arc. that itself sounds exciting but i still am not excited by this trailer, i am sorry.
i appreciate you and many others may love it, and thats fine, but for others like myself i am going in with caution because of my disappointing experience from the previous game. the true god of war games are 1-3 from the greek age. the story itself may be enough for me to get the game, maybe i might get pleasently surprised. hope it comes on ps4 as i can't afford a ps5. i'll wait until the price goes down. i'm not spending obscene amounts on videogames anymore.

Ever since the whole story with Mimir, I threw the original Norse lore out the window. I'm treating this series as a new take on the lore.

Tyr is the Norse God of war. But a more peaceful one compared to Aries (or Kratos) for example, prefers peace over violence to resolve problems if possible.
