Truly of the most powerful, important and significant work in contemporary art right now. I regret spending the last few minutes reading through the hatred and discouragement in the comments below. I revel in the pride of sharing a home country with this remarkable womxn. Keep creating powerful work powerful artist! And thank you for the hard work you put into crafting such a beautiful presentation.

Beautiful and wonderful aesthetic. Great work. Reading the comments here has been disgusting though. I know plenty of successful artists who make a living. In fact, I make a living recruiting such artists. It's so funny because none of these idiots talking trash in the comments section will ever know what it feels like to sell a piece of their own artwork 'cause of their crappy attitudes. bwahahaha silly bastards. get with the game. XD

  3. Jennifer Jones says:

I simply don't understand why some people show so much hatred when a Black, African-American, or African WOMAN speaks. All the videos that I have seen on TED that have black women speaking are all like this: a few thousand views, and way more dislikes than likes… But, really, why? I want to refresh the memory of those who either forgot American history or simply didn't pay attention in that class. Blacks were slaves and they were seen similarly to cows and pigs. They were free labor, unpaid servants, and the women were just… there for the master's pleasure and no one could do anything about it except get up, keep working, and move on. Mind you, this was not even 200 years ago. (Slavery was abolished in America Dec 18, 1865, in case you wanted to know.)
So, now this question arises: why is it so wrong for Black and African women to talk about empowerment and to tell others, "Hey, I exist and I am a person just like you." It's small things like this that make Black women have hope. Maybe you think that this talk is unimportant but the thing is, it may not pertain to you because you don't fall into the category of the oppressed, nor are you Black, or a woman, or whatever, but don't be so overly judgmental because of race or gender. No human being on this planet ever chose to be who they were, are, or will be, genetically speaking. If I knew I'd be made fun of because of my skin by other Black kids, or be looked at funny by white people because they're "trying to figure out what part of Mexico I'm from," of course, I'd chose to be white. But I was born Black and I'm now proud of that. I'm very proud of these Black women standing in front of people (something I, myself, would NEVER do…) and speaking on something they feel should be spoken about.
I like this video because I need women like this to show me that I am beautiful and I can make a change somewhere, regardless of how small an action I'm doing.
In closing, really, people, stop being so hateful towards Black women. Thanks.

This also happens to millions of WHITE American children everyday, going to bed hungry and abused. I'm so tired of this newfound racism and destruction of our historical statues. If we erase history, we erase the Advancement of eqality. Now all I see are topics of racial inequality. Why is society/media and elitists hell bent on bringing back racism. It's heartbreaking. We've come too far to go back. Like our President said, " We are all God's children and bleed the same blood". Would we celebrate destroying Martin Luther King or Rosa Parks? Lord please cease this misguided Elitist feuled trend to end. They want to divide and conquer. Don't you see what's happening? Now all conservatives are white supremacists? Enough of this madness. Love, light and peace is all we need. God bless humanity.

  5. Jackson Sartori says:

I see a woman begging for attention, wanting to be immortalized without doing anything relevant. The past contains crimes and people change that with laws and education. The present and the future continue to unfold and we are doing very well. (not perfect, well)
Those statues (despite the context) are moments because they depend on unique skills to be created. What's yours? (dress funny)
We can change the course of history, but do not try to change the concept ART.

  6. Daniel Bostock says:

Men and women have different drives, men are programmed to provide and be dominant for the survival of his gene pool.
All empires colonised, and in history you're either part of an empire or part of someone else's. England's empire and colonialism was awful, but far less awful than other empires in history.
It's time to get past the blame game and start appreciating where we are now.
statues are often recognised as leaps in history rather than the character of the person who's views were primitive compared to today. Everyone had flaws in history, any statue from any race can be picked and prodded to find some undesirable or rancid belief.
