I notice that none of the examples on your map are at right angles to the plane's flight path. That may be a big part of my problem. I jumped to a warehouse on Erangel, saw no player ahead of me, and certainly no parachute, yet when I entered the west end of that warehouse, I got riddled by a villain who had entered the east end and was already armed and armored. I picked up a weapon and loaded it, but my health was already below half so I lost that gunfight.

I wondered: You arent flying straight. Flying straight would be 165km/h but you go between 180 and 195

you land first on the empty house and the guy watching his phone in the plane drops directly on the AKM….
If you want a ~1k measuring device without making something, long side of a business card (or credit card) will work on all maps but one (sanhok I think)… although you have to zoom one notch on a couple of the maps. I think the short side works on one of the maps without zooming, but I can't remember which. Buddy and I have been using this method for weeks and it works most of the time (if you check the zoom level). I should mention this is a 27" at 1080.

I was always jumping at 1200 m from landing target. Now I know why some people managed to land faster on Erangel and Miramar while jumping later. Plane speed is higher there. Great vid !
100% Wacky already made this same video like a year ago. Doesn't seem like anything's changed for the most part.

What about farther landing destinations? Like 2-2.5km-s from the line of the plane's route. Should one jump out of the plane exactly at its closest point to the destination (so: plane's route and jump route is perpendicular) or a little bit sooner? Because my experience somehow tells me you should do the latter but I just don't know why.

What is the best way to jump when the flightpath is directly over the landing site as surely the plane is flying faster vs flying at an angle?

Yes, jump from 1km, start picking 200 metres away and… You will land last. Really, that's not good
One more thing you can do is cut the parachute for even faster dissent
