I use a Moka pot (obviously) but I just put the water in, then the basket with fine ground coffee, put the top on then put the unit on the stovetop. I don't pre-heat the water. I enjoy my coffee strong so I don't add any water to my cup just a bit of warm milk. BTW my Moka pot is a 6 cup and the entire thing goes in my PBS coffee mug. Could you tell me why you pre-heat the water, please?

Everytime I brew with a moka pot (9 cup) I always get a layer of black sediment on the bottom of the coffee. I think its some of the ground coffee getting through the filter, what should I do?

I've tried Moka pot, pour-over v60, coffee machine, and k cup coffee I like pour-over coffee using my v60 the best. Pour-over coffee seems to me like it has a smoother flavor and it just tastes like a MORE nice naturally clean cup of coffee.

The 6 cup pot makes makes enough for a regular sized mug of coffee. Don't screw the top on to hard or its really hard to get lose
No.. espresso is not just a word. You need a device that is able to generate sufficient amount of pressure. Moka pots may at the most create 2 bars of pressure, which is not nearly enough. Hence the coffee taste quite different from Moka pots versus espresso press/machine.
I do this very similar to in this video, but i lift it on and off the heat source to make sure it is boiling/brewing very slowly, and i watch it throughout the brewing process and try to remove it BEFORE the coffee coming out looks more "watery" – because that stuff taste cheap..! To help make sure i dont "overbrew" it, i pour it into the cup when it comes a LITTLE past the beginning of the spout (i use the 3 cup), and then put it back on the heat to see if there is any more dark coffee coming out.
I only use 15g of coffee, and grind it very similar coarseness as the pre-ground espresso at the store. This is a little less than full, but at least with the espresso im using now, this brings out more of the sweet chocolaty notes. If i fill it all the way up, it gets too strong and bitter for my taste, and is best suited for making a latte. I also fill it all the way up if i use a coarser grind setting, to make a strong regular coffee.
What kind of grinder would you recommend? I'm looking at ceramic manuals but I qm fairly new to the coffee world

I used your method, worked a lot better than from the manufacture. Thanks. Question though, don’t you feel it’s not a great comparison with regular brew coffee? My thought is with the moka you use 2-3 times more coffee to make 1 cup. Looking for your opinion.
At 6:55 you removed it too late.
If you just wait for the sound, water will find its way in the coffee puck, due to pressure, "dig" a channel in the coffee, and go through the channel without going through the coffee.
It's called channeling.
What you can do is use your eyes instead of your ears and remove the pot from the heat source when you see that the liquid starts to be clear.

aight, i just bought one of these to go camping with. i'm optimistic
wanting a single cup brewer, not sure this kind is for me. wanting 8 oz of coffee that is regular strength vs espresso that I don't have to dilute. is this kind for me? if so, what size pot would you recommend? I almost ordered the 1 cup because I thought that meant it brewed 1 cup so… ?
i love my moka cup. Will not use any other method except an espresso. But I will not spend 2k-5k for one unless I win the lottery.

Always use a COARSE grind to keep the fine SILT (grinds) out’ve your coffee!
I have just got a moka pot steel type I use an induction cooker. What temperature settings is best – 100, 120 or 140 degree Celsius? I have tried at 100 but it boils but does not flow up the chamber. 120 – will start but short period only. So what's the normal temperature for a moka pot to operate properly?

even at the lowest heat the coffee when its coming out from the valve….it spills and spurs the coffee outside….anyway to control it?
good stuff here – I've used 14 grams of coffee for some time to brew my coffee in the Moka Pot – was happy to see that mentioned in the video – most how-to vids go with the usual full basket formula (which is fine for a nice midday espresso-style brew – but that's not what I want with my morning coffee – nice vid

I put some coffee substitute milled to Turkish coffee fineness and my moka pot almost exploded. So it's no joke, be careful what you use. In general, coffee ground coarser than espresso grind works well.
no need to wait for it to heat. just load water and coffee. seal and brew. the lower temp was a nice take away but the rest only opens u uop for getting burned or starting a kitchen fire
