for some reason when I bought this on the Nintendo e shop, you don't even get all the seeds and watering can at the beginning
I never understood how to beat the game when I was younger or what the purpose of the harvest sprites were. Never was able to chop down that field below in the shed with the harvest sprites.

The truth is a very entertaining game the first time I try it, the only problem I see is that it is very limited by the gameboy, interesting things were added with respect to their version of SNES but they also removed several good additions from the version of the console. It is a game that can have fun for a long time but that over time becomes repetitive due to the lack of things to do and the constant repetition of the same tasks day after day.

Harvest Moon DS (the first one for the DS) was my first and favorite game of the series. It is to this day.
I saw this in the Nintendo eShop and thought, why not go back to the roots and try it? It's a cool game and my first run was until some time in summer.
I encountered problems, though. I gave the gnome my sickle and hoe. I read that you have to wait 12 real time hours for one tool and 24 hours for the other one and I shouldn't play the game at all.(pretty stupid concept, if you ask me) I activated the ingame timer and I definetily waited the amount of times. The tools didn't appear in the shed.
I was also unable to get the sprinkler since I couldn't use the hoe.
I restarted this morning and played until I could give my sickle away. I definitely left the game for 12 hours by now (but I played other games on the 3DS in this time), but the sickle isn't back yet.
Should I leave the 3DS completely shut off for a day? Doesn't this work on the 3DS' Virtual Console and I shouldn't bother giving my tools to the gnome? Or am I just really unlucky and encountered a bug two times in a row?
I would appreciate any tips on what I could be doing wrong, I don't feel like playing on and potentially wasting time, before I can solve this problem…
This was a good game. I remember it fondly. But there could have been a little more variety in the music department. Hearing that same 10 – 15 second tune on repeat again and again [unless it's raining or you either head into town or underground] always gave me a headache after a while. As for the gameplay itself, I enjoyed it for a little while before becoming bored of doing the same thing again and again each day. The furthest I ever got was getting maybe a chicken and a cow, but could never figure out how to properly take care of them. I came to realize this game is like monopoly. You start it and everything is great, but unless you have a LOT of patience, it's a game you'll never play through until the end.
One the few games that I played on a Nokia smartphone via the emulator. Good times.

Always loved HM never played this one though. I'm thinking about giving this one a shot.
Couldn't finish this game…something went wrong and my gameboy could not save game anymore…loved it anyway.
One of my favourite games EVER. The only other HM I think it's comparable to this is A new beginning for 3Ds.

this'll probably sound like a weird question but how do you harvest crops??? i've had turnips and potatoes for a couple of days which have the sort of green sprouty bit visible and that i can't walk over, which makes me think they're fully grown, but i can't pick them up with my bare hands?? i tried using a sickle on one of them too but it didn't help at all?? help?? i've legit tried everything i can think of

I got harvest moon with high hopes but theirs no watering can so i can water my grass and so far the game has been a real disappointment.
