Joel Jackson wants to reimagine transportation around the needs of the African consumer. He’s designed an SUV that’s rugged enough for long stretches of uneven terrain and affordable enough to be within reach of those who need it most. Learn more about the challenges of mobility and manufacturing in Africa — and what a localized motor industry could mean for the future of the continent.

I'd rather have & trust the Ox Truck, far more practical in the tough road conditions of Africa & designed by the legendary Gordon Murray himself.
Kantanka is touted as "African built" in reality it is a bottom end Chinese product that has the headlights installed in Ghana at 50% more than a straight import would cost. What few "African engineers" actually exist would be better put to sanitary systems and roads. Just google "African homebuilt aircraft" for a good laugh. This guy is either deluded or more likely wants to float a stock offering and sell before it crashes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kY9JvZUgdmc Here is the actual face of the African auto industry.
I am from Kenya this car is one of a kind but the cheaper second hand cars are crippling the increase in use of mobius cars.
I wish to have this type of car in my province, Basilan Philippines.
South Korea did not have a highly skilled labor 40 ..or 50 yrs ago ….look at them now …
注意力完全不能从这个小哥哥的脸上移开…太帅了啊啊啊
i am kenyan and I love the idea
What on Earth is this, TED? This guy is selling cars, not "saving Africa". TED has really gone down the gutters now a days.
So you redesigned the Land Rover.
In my view, no matter how you look at it… this has to become an Electric Vehicle project…resolving ALL the issues.
Should be the first car I buy since I am nearby in Uganda. (When I get the money 🙂
thinking and community, in community services, is Africa need more on ,save, Health, Education, Economic, transport,.
Doesn't the Toyota Land Cruiser exist already?
I live in Kenya ,seen the 1st version of the car around looks so fragile and weak .Not safe in my opinion
2nd design looks much more better + safe ,hope its cheap .
Oh man this video title is begging to have racist jokes be made about it in the comments.
This is brilliant! Thanks, Mr. Jackson.
cell phones were made for the "privileged few" and that's why most poor people around the world have inexpensive cell phones or smart phones.
Capitalism for the win!
Wow! Just Wow! Amazing job!
I LOVE this
They already have one and it is called the Toyota Pickup
Is this a TED talk or an investor presentation? Can't help but feel I'm being sold something…
he speak so fast, i can hear totally :((
im tired of watching white people talk about how they can improve africa…
Excuse me where is Arabic subtitle
So a cheap Range Rover?
This guy is a con artist. He does all these presentations for donations. What happened to mobia 1? It was a major flop. It's far cheaper to buy a second hand vehicle like a Toyota which will last for more than a decade. Also, there are some major vehicle manufactures in Kenya like cmc and Dottie Doobie.
